Where do I Begin?

I wanted to write something addressing some of the most common asked questions I received, the most prevalent of which is "Where do I begin?".

To begin, you need to ask yourself some simple questions like:
- How is my family's and my own health?
- Do I want to use more health conscious personal care products?
- Should I be using more non-toxic household cleaners?

Looking at how to make you and your home healthier with natural products is what Young Living Essential Oils (YLEO) is all about. It is easy to start off small with a starter kit or by just using the nontoxic thieves cleaner. These will give you a great feel for what the whole line of young living can offer. If you love the smell of the oils, I can introduce you to a wonderful diffuser that will fill your house (or individual rooms) with a wonderful aroma and bacteria fighting scents of any oil you choose. There are also inexpensive lip balms that are available (a personal favorite of mine) as well as hand sanitizers and soaps from the Thieves line.

Here are some more questions I thought of that you could ask yourself and I would be happy to address for you:
- Do you get headaches a lot and don't like to take ibuprofen? If yes, peppermint could help with that.
- Do you get cuts, scrapes, burns, or bruises and want to use something natural? If yes, lavender could help with that.
- Do you have an upset stomach, heartburn or digestive problems? If yes, peppermint, digize, or alkalime could help with that.
- Do you have a need to use oils on your pet? YL has an animal scents line that would be great to use.
- Do you want your house to smell nice but do not want to use Glade Plug-Ins? If yes, any oil would be great. Especially, joy, lavender, thieves, or peace and calming along with a cold air diffuser.
- Do you smoke or have pets and want to get rid of the smell and not want to use Lysol or Febreeze? If yes, purification or thieves will help.
- Do you want to start trading out some of the toxic household cleaners for non-toxic ones? If yes, Thieves Household Cleaner would be great.
- Do you want to use a natural mosquito repellent instead of using deet? If yes, purification is a good choice.
- Do you want to build up your immune system during the cold and flu season? If yes, thieves, immupower, or Ningxia Red could help with that.
- Do you know of a child who could benefit from an organic line of personal care products? YL has a kids scents line that would be great to use.
- Do you get massages? Why not bring your own massage oils and reap the benefits of a therapeutic grade oil? Massage therapists don't mind using the oils that you bring in. You can either buy a pre-made massage oil that YL makes or you can create your own by mixing the oils that you want along with the V6 mixing oil.

Start with one or two things in mind and when you feel comfortable with that, then you can expand. Each oil has several uses. The top two oils that are very versatile are lavender and peppermint.

If you have a question about something specific (ailment or oil), I can look it up in the Essential Oils Desk Reference book and email you a snippet. I have a lot of brochures if you want anything specific. I have a blog and it can be found on my website. I have lots more to write about so, keep checking back.

Thank you for your time and I would love to hear back from you.

Are Hand Sanitizers Good or Bad?

  • - Only 17 percent of Americans wash their hands after shaking hands — yet 51 percent wash them after sneezing or coughing.

  • - Only 33 percent of those who do wash their hands use soap. And only 16 percent really wash their hands long enough.

  • - Every three minutes, a child brings his hand to his nose or mouth. Every 60 seconds, a working adult touches as many as 30 objects.

Hand sanitizers are good to use if there is no soap and water available to kill bacteria.  It has to contain at least 60% alcohol in order to do the job.  It might say ethyl alcohol, ethanol, isopropanol or some other variation, and those are all fine.  They are not to be used to wash off dirt, blood, oil, food, etc...  Alcohol is easily absorbed by the skin.  Denatured alcohol is ethanol that has additives in it making it toxic.

Hand sanitizers will dry out your hands unless it has a moisturizer added to it.  On the other hand, some say that the alcohol is better for your hands than plain soap.

If it says that it will kill 99% of the bacteria, the other 1% will mutate into a more resistant bacteria becoming less effective over time.  On the other hand, some say that is not the case with hand sanitizers.

Hand sanitizers either have alcohol, which is highly flammable, or triclosan in them.  Triclosan is known to be a pesticide and is not harmful to humans, but it hasn't been ruled out either.  Knowing this, kids are building up their immunities and don't necessarily need all of the bacteria off of them all the time.  Plus, they are more likely to stick their fingers in their mouth.

Hand sanitizers kill the good bacteria as well as the bad bacteria.  Essential oils only kill the bad bacteria.  Hand sanitizers stop working once they evaporate (dry).

Interesting facts about the Thieves Hand Purifier from Young Living Essential Oils (YLEO):
    1.  It has denatured ethanol using peppermint essential oil (making it not as toxic).
    2.  After the ethanol evaporates, the Thieves essential oil blend still remains on the skin (allowing it to have antibacterial properties longer).
    3.  It contains aloe vera and vegetable glycerin (to moisturize the hands).

Antibacterial Hand Soap versus Essential Oils

Triclosan is the antibacterial agent found in antibacterial soaps and other personal care products. The EPA considers it a possible risk to human health and to the environment. Studies have shown that plain soap kills just as much bacteria as an antibacterial soap.  Antibacterial soaps could spawn resistant bacteria and contaminate ground water.

Antibiotics create super germs through evolution by the survival of the fittest.  The strongest or resistant bacteria survive to create a new generation of strong germs that are no longer affected by the antibiotic that helped create them.  In response, pharmaceutical companies develop more powerful antibiotics that can destroy the resistant strains.

Most hand soaps have antibacterial properties and contain harmful chemicals and fragrances. Essential oils affect the hostile bacteria and leave the friendly bacteria intact (which strengthens the immune system) while antibacterial soaps kill all bacteria, good and bad (which weakens the immune system).   Antibiotics have a specific chemical make up identical in every batch (easier for bacteria to build a resistance to).  Essential oils have a very complex structure with hundreds of constituents (soil, air, water, sun, etc) and are different in every batch.

    Thieves Overview

Young Living Essential Oils (YLEO) has a product called Thieves, which is a blend of cinnamon bark, clove, eucalyptus, lemon, and rosemary.  What is the story behind the name?  During the 15th century plague, a bandit of four thieves doused themselves with oils to protect themselves while robbing the dead and the half dying.  They did not get sick.  When captured, they were offered a lighter sentence in exchange for their recipe.

Thieves enhances the immune system function, purifies the air, and kills surface bacteria.  It is anti-infectious, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal, anti-septic, and anti-inflammatory.

When diffused, it can kill 99.96% of the microbes within 12 minutes.  Now, wouldn't you want to inhale something natural rather than using Lysol, Febreeze, or Glade Plug-Ins?

How can I use Thieves to help me maintain a healthy immune system?  You can put 1 or 2 drops on the bottom of your feet every morning and every evening.  Diffusing Thieves can kill the airborne bacteria.  Taking Inner Defense soft gels can boost up your immune system.

Young Living Essential Oils has the following products with the Thieves oil blend:  inner defense, household cleaner, wipes, spray, lozenges, toothpaste, mouthwash, floss, foaming hand soap, bar soap, and hand purifier (sanitizer).   Check out:  http://www.youngliving.us/pdfs/thieves_booklet.pdf

Check out this article on how to use Thieves:  http://www.secretofthieves.com/pdf/33WaysToUseThieves.pdf

Thieves is so powerful that it kills black mold.

Since there is a lot of research and information about the specific products, I will write other blogs with more detailed information.

    Stay healthy!!!!

How Can We Build Up Our Immune Systems?

    •             Eat healthy making sure that you intake less processed foods, white flour, and sugar while eating more organic and alkaline foods that are nutrient dense, especially those with vitamin C.   Young Living Essential Oils (YLEO) has a product called Inner Defense which is a softgel that contains Thieves, oregano, thyme, and lemongrass which are great for immune support.

    •             When taking a multi-vitamin, make sure it says “whole food source”.  90% of a synthetic vitamin passes right through you and are a waste of money.  Young Living Essential Oils (YLEO) has a multi-vitamin called True Source.

    •             Try not to eat irradiated or microwaved food because it kills the enzymes.  You want to eat live food.  Enzymes are the building blocks in our body as they remove toxic substances from our blood such as free radicals, they eliminate old fat and proteins that cause cardiovascular problems, they prevent allergies, degeneration, disease, and much more.  It could take up to 2 or 3 years to build up our enzyme reserves.  Young Living Essential Oils (YLEO) has an enzyme product called Essentialzyme.

    •             Restore the alkalinity in your body.  If you are sick, you are too acidic.  When this happens, extra mucus is created, which causes inflammation, which results in disease.  You can buy PH test strips at the pharmacy.  To get your body more alkaline, you can eat foods that are more on the alkaline side.  Young Living Essential Oils (YLEO) has a product called Alkalime

    •             Free radicals come from sources outside your body, such as tobacco smoke, toxins, or pollutants, and can damage your body’s cells, proteins, and DNA by altering their chemical structure. They can cause aging and illness.  Eat foods that are high antioxidants.  Young Living Essential Oils (YLEO) has a product called Ningxia Red.  It is a nutrient-infused wolfberry drink that has the highest levels of antioxidants on the ORAC scale to help support immune function, cardiovascular health, nourish the eyes, and promote healthy liver function.  All you need is one ounce a day to maintain your healthy immune system.

    •             Many of us do not realize that the bowel is the source of core health and vitality.  If the bowel is not working properly, optimal health is impossible and the body is vulnerable to numerous conditions.  Between 70 to 85 percent of the immune cells in our bodies are present in the gastrointestinal tract.  Most Americans 40 and over have between 3-15 pounds of impacted fecal matter they are carrying.    Young Living Essential Oils (YLEO) has a cleansing trio kit which includes Essentialzyme, ComforTone, and ICP.

    •             By building bowel health, probiotics supports normal elimination, improves digestion, boosts immunity, and reduces yeast. Probiotics are sometimes known as healthy intestinal flora or beneficial bacteria, and are in fermented foods like yogurt and sauerkraut.  Young Living Essential Oils (YLEO) has a probiotic product called Life 5.

    •             Raise your frequency.  A few of the things that lower frequency include: heavy, processed, and junk foods; negative words, thoughts, actions, and feelings; negative people and situations; artificial synthesized materials such as fluorescent lights, synthetic fabrics, synthetic foods, vitamins, and medicines; working at a job you hate; and mainstream radio, television, and newspapers - particularly the news.  The only way to keep the body vibrating high is to heal the past trauma, eliminate limiting beliefs and lead a healthy physical, mental, emotional and spiritual lifestyle.  Sickness begins when the frequency is lowered.  By using essential oils, which have high frequencies, we increase our own.  Young Living Essential Oils (YLEO) has a vast array of essential oils that can do just that.

    •             Drink one-half your weight in ounces of water to flush out the toxins per day. If you don’t like drinking plain water, try adding one of the Young Living Essential Oils (YLEO) citrus oils for flavor.

    •             Get plenty of rest.  The average adult should sleep 7-8 hours.  Sleep debt is the effect of not getting enough rest and sleep; a large debt causes mental, emotional and physical fatigue.   Young Living Essential Oils (YLEO) has a product called Sleep Essence as well as lavender and a blend called peace and calming to help you sleep.

    •             Reduce your stress.  Prolonged and chronic stress weakens the immune system.   If you learn to handle stress and relax, you will be much happier and healthier and you will function at a much higher level.  You can do this by learning to meditate, finding fun activities that help you to relax like walking or a massage, and by changing your thought patterns to alter your emotions and your behaviors.  Knowing how stress affects the immune system can be the key to becoming healthier and happier.  Young Living Essential Oils (YLEO) has many essential oils in which you can diffuse that can help you meditate and relax.

    Weight Loss and Restored Vitality

At the Young Living Essential Oils (YLEO) 2011 Convention, there were breakout sessions.  Below are my notes from one of them that was about weight loss and restored vitality.

In the 1970's, 10% of the people were obese.  Now, 80% are obese.  That's a 150% increase!

Today, 67% are overweight and of those, 34% are obese where the BMI = 30-34.  17% of children are obese.  $117 billion in direct and indirect costs.  40% increase in doctor visits, medications, and procedures.  1.1 million deaths from cardiovascular disease.  There are > 23 million diabetics.  1.4 million cancer cases for 2007, which was the #1 killer.

80% of your health is determined by stress factors such as poor nutrition, environmental chemicals and negative emotions.  Stress can turn into heart disease, thyroid problems, diabetes, cancer, high cholesterol, impaired immune function, increased bone loss, excess weight, and impaired memory.  Negative emotions can deteriorate your health.

There can be 200 cancer toxins in your body.  Research has found over 287 chemicals present in umbilical cords and 217 of them are toxic to the brain.  Of those 208 caused birth defects and 180 cause cancer.

Xeno-Estrogens, which are xenohormone that imitate estrogen can cause breast cancer, endometriosis, weight gain, fibrocystic breast disease, migraine headaches, premenstrual syndrome, ovarian cysts, endometrial cancer, benign prostatic hypertrophy in men, restless leg syndrome, birth defects, and prostate cancer.  An increase in body fat stores more estrogen.  Today, there are 50% less sperm in males since the 1970's.

High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) is the main cause of obesity.  It was introduced in the late 1970's and in the main stream food since the 1980's.  HFCS stops the signal to the brain to stop eating.  You always get signals to feed yourself from cells and the brain.

Standard American diet mainly consists of processed foods, lack of antioxidants, foods causing silent inflammatory reactions, and wrong nutrients.  Caffeine decreases the blood flow to the skin and it increases fat cells.  Caffeine is one of the deadliest chemicals to the body similar to cocaine.  Coffee has a lot of pesticides in it.  Decaf coffee has an ingredient that is similar to dry cleaning.

The anti-nutrients in our diet are hydrogenated oils, HFCS, processed foods, fast foods, candy, sugary drinks, and GMC.

Green tea can be toxic as it contains high levels of fluoride.  You don't know what they mix with green tea.  An average cup of tea contains 8 mg of fluoride (which reduces hypothyroid back in the 1920's).  No chemical causes cancer as fast as fluoride.  On the same note, triclosan is a known carcinogen in toothpaste.

    HFCS:
    - suppresses production of leptin (causes appetite to increase and impairs insulin sensitivity both of which cause weight gain)
    - reduces insulin sensitivity
    - major cause of obesity
    - contributes to diabetes epidemic
    - increases blood triglyceride levels, LDL, and fat deposition

In 1900, .4% had diabetes.  Today, 20% have diabetes.  23 million people have type 2 diabetes which accounts for 95% of all cases.  Environmental toxicity leads to silent inflammation in the body which causes disease like diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and obesity.

Causes of weight gain: decreased leptin sensitivity, clogged liver and colon, hormone imbalance, lack of enzymes, nutritional deficiencies, heavy metal toxicity, genetics, yo-yo dieting, xeno-estrogens, lack of sweating, lack of breakfast, pasteurized foods, eating before bed, lack of sleep, processed foods, lack of exercise, trans fats, poor circulation, poor eating habits, and irradiated foods (microwave).

Need to provide our bodies with proper nutrition, hormone balance, and stick with USDA organic as much as possible.  Our bodies don't digest man made products well like supplements.  It needs to be whole food source.  Not all supplements are created equal and many are a total waste of your money.  Progesterone helps digest fat.  If you have thyroid problems, you may have low progesterone.

Young Living has whole food source supplements that can help supplement your dietary needs, check it out:  http://www.youngliving.com/essential-nutrition

    Enzymes

The biggest takeaway from the Young Living Essential Oils (YLEO) 2011 convention for me was enzymes and how important they are to your well-being.  Below are my notes from the convention.

Our bodies create over 3,000 different kinds of enzymes.  We should have millions of enzymes when we are healthy.  When our enzyme reserves start to diminish, we have bi-polar, cold, flu, arthritis, allergies, autism, Parkinson's, inflammation, cancer, digestive problems, heart disease, hormone deficiencies, stroke, headaches, cancer, and autism.

Enzymes are produced by living organisms.  They contain amino acids.  Enzymes are the catalysts that create many essential biochemical reactions.  They facilitate chemical reactions in the body very quickly.  Without enzymes, some metabolic processes would happen very slowly or not at all.  Every daily biochemical function in the body requires enzymes to facilitate the building of compounds from the body's raw materials, transport elements throughout the body, break down substances such as food, and eliminate toxins and chemical waste in the body.  Enzymes deliver nutrients to the body in order to make use of those food elements.  Enzymes need minerals and vitamins to function.  Enzymes free minerals, vitamins, proteins, and hormones to engage in body functions.  Enzymes play a major role in every metabolic process in the body from glandular function and support to hormone productions and toxic waste disposal.

Enzyme production decreases in the absence of live food as well as disease, stress, aging, and petrochemicals.  The inhibitors are aspirin, Tylenol, ibuprofen, antibiotics, cleaning solvents, household cleaners, microwave radiations and heat over 120 degrees.  Headaches are caused by an enzyme deficiency and if you take aspirin or ibuprofen, you are inhibiting enzyme production.  Allergies are a by-product of enzyme deficiency.  Arthritis is not a disease, it is an allergy (quote from Gary Young).  You can't create a hormone without a protein and you can't create a protein without an enzyme.  Enzyme deficiency causes nightmares and restless leg syndrome.  People can be allergic to phenols because of enzyme deficiency and some oils have high phenols.

When you fast, you don't deplete enzymes.  When you eat dead food (microwave), you deplete enzymes, by using the ones in your reserve.  Estrogen helps the skin.  If you are a vegetarian, you may have a lack of estrogen and need to supplement it with lipase.  Enzymes facilitate digestion and assimilation.  Every food has enzymes and carrots are very high in natural enzymes.  Amylase is in breast milk and if you didn't get enough as an infant, you will have allergies.

After digestion is completed, enzymes will break down.  They will pass into the blood stream as amino acids.  They become building blocks in the body.  Protease, amylase, and other enzymes will enter the blood stream to clean out foreign materials such as free radicals and potential allergens, which create gluten intolerance and other allergies.  Enzymes make their way back to the liver and pancreas and are used again.

What can enzymes do for us?
    - Clean clogged arteries of plaque
    - Empty stomach of undigested fat
    - Prevent stroke and heart attack
    - Enzymes eliminate old fat and proteins left deposited from years causing cariovascular problems
    - Protease reduces inflammation processes and enhances circulation and the immune system by improving and increasing the surface area of the red blood cells, allowing it to transport more oxygen
    - Enzymes are effective in weight regulation - overweight people are lacking in lipase
    - Enzymes prevent allergies and degeneration such as: gluten and lactose intolerance, leaky gut, acid reflux, and heart burn, environmental allergens, colds, coughs, flu, degenerative disease
    - Help clear the body of undigested proteins and meat: undigested starches, sugars, and carbs will ferment fats, turning them rancid.  Toxins create a host for disease such as candida, leaky gut, brain fog, fatigue, hypoglycemia, depressions, allergies, and fibromyalgia.
    - You heal faster with enzymes, it facilitates circulation and oxygen
    - Enzymes stimulate the brain, alertness, and memory attention

The FDA has approved enzyme therapies for treating cancer, cardiovascular disease, removal of dead tissue, gastrointestinal conditions, pancreatic conditions, and removal of toxic substances from blood.

What does this all mean for us?  Build up your enzyme reserves if you don't want allergies or cancer.  The enzymes break down the protein shell of cancer cells.  It might take up to 2-3 years to build up the reserves.  Clean the liver and increase the enzymes to help with diseases.  Essential oils have enzymatic activity and when you use essential oils, you are stimulating enzyme production in your body.

    Colds and Flu

During the cold and flu season, everyone suffers.  It all starts with that one person who gets sick and then their germs are spread to others.  Anyone within 3 feet of an infected person can catch the flu.  Germs can live for hours on doorknobs, tables, computers, etc...  All it takes is for someone to touch an infected area and rub their eyes or nose and they are sick.  One thing that really urks me is when people sneeze in their hand and don't wipe those germs off.  Use a hand sanitizer if you can't wash your hands right away.  It is hard to keep your immune system up with all of the germs in our everyday life, our poor eating habits, being over worked, over stressed, and over tired.  There are billions of cases of the common cold and flu every year.

So, what can you do at home to protect yourself from getting sick?  Eliminate the germs that can make you sick and build up your immune system.  A couple of Young Living Essential Oils (YLEO) products to try are Inner Defense and Thieves.

Here's a couple of links from Young Living for Inner Defense and Thieves:

    Progesterone

At the 2010 and the 2011 Young Living Essential Oils (YLEO) Convention, Dr. Dan Purser http://www.danpursermd.com/  talked about low progesterone.  The comments below are notes from the conventions that I took.  You can find a lot more on the web about this topic.

The most common cause of low progesterone in younger women is pituitary damage by the following:
         - Trauma (sports)
         - Sheehan's Syndrome
         - Motor vehicle accidents
         - Surgical incidents
         - Any traumatic shock event
         - Tumors
         - Drug inhaling
         - Stress

    Low Progesterone causes:
         - PMS
         - Headaches
         - Endometriosis
         - Hot flashes (note: only 2% of the time, this is caused by low estrogen)
         - Day and night sweats (note: only 2% of the time, this is caused by low estrogen)
         - TMJ disorders
         - Insomnia
         - Demyelination -> neuropathies
         - Lack of libido
         - Hair loss
         - Increased acne

    Five B's of estrogen dominance:
         - Backache
         - Bleeding
         - Bloating
         - Breast tenderness
         - (Rhymes with witchiness)
         - uterine fibroids (there is a "b")

    Benefits of progesterone:
         - Mood elevates
         - Stops 95% of TMJ inflammation
         - Reduces breast cancer
         - Aids somnolence (sleepy)
         - Heals nerves
         - Reduces endometriosis symptoms
         - Improves bone density
         - Improves libido
         - Makes breasts light and fluffy

Synthetic "progestational agents" worsen the risk of breast cancer.  MPA (medroxy progesterone acetate) is carcinogenic.

Even after one birth control pill, you get a 10+ years increased risk of breast cancer.

Progessence Plus = fully formed progesterone from yams (P4).

    Progesterone prevents menstrual migraine headaches.

Here is the link from YL's website:  http://www.youngliving.com/anti-aging-creams/Progessence-Plus
That lists the ingredients and how to use it along with the pdf file.

My testimonial for this is that in June 2010, I had TMJ.  I turned to my dentist and he prescribed 3 different medications (that were awful) that worked only a little and I also went to a massage therapist.  Then, I went to the convention and heard Dr. Purser's talk about low progesterone and how it helped over 95% of TMJ cases.  I decided to try it.  All I did was rub Progessence Plus on my carotid artery 2-3 times a day.  Within a week, my TMJ cleared up.  Amazing!

Several women that I was with said that it made them feel happy when they rubbed it on their carotid artery.

How do you think that Progessence Plus can help you?  Has it helped you?

There have been a lot of studies on Frankincense and its anti-tumoral properties.  In fact, the Young Living Essential Oils (YLEO) 2010 convention was all about frankincense.  They mentioned frankincense at the 2011 convention.  They said that frankincense doesn't kill cancer, it digests it.

Here are a couple of links on the Frankincense oil which includes a pdf on the oil and the research.

Here's some statistics from the 2011 convention:
1 in 6 have prostate cancer
1 in 8 have breast cancer
1 in 14 have lung cancer
1 in 19 have colon cancer
1 in 72 have pancreas cancer

    Frankincense
         - inhibits aggressive cander cells
         - provides tumor cell-specific killing
         - reduces oxygen radicals in cancer cells to induce cell death
         - activates genes for suppressed cancer cell growth and elevated cancer cell death

Quote from the following webpage:  http://www.dgaryyoung.com/blog/category/general/
"Out of a population of almost three million, the total number of malignancies in Oman in 2008 was 1,992, with total deaths of 194. The population of the United States is 305 million, and in 2009 there were 1,479,350 cases of cancer with 562,000 deaths."  "Could it be that their use of frankincense has had its impact in the prevention of cancer? Some Omanis believe that their cancer-free life is a result of burning the frankincense resin and chewing it daily."

Cancer starts when the DNA code within the cell's nucleus becomes corrupted.  Frankincense can tell the cell what the right DNA code should be.  It closes down the nucleus to stop reproducing corrupted DNA codes.  Boswellic acid, a potent anti-inflammatory durg, inhibits rejection to the same extent as high dose steroids.

How can we use frankincense in our lives?  We can diffuse the oil in our cold air diffuser, we can put a drop in a drink or veggie capsule, or we can burn the resin with a resin burner.

    Getting Started

My mom lived in AZ and was working for a chiropractor who used Young Living Essential Oils (YLEO) on her patients.  After awhile, mom was a believer in how the oils can help your body.  She started attending Marcella Vonn Harting's monthly oil meetings and became friends with her and signed up in 1998.  Over the years, she shared her oil knowledge with her family and friends.  I'll have to say that I wasn't a believer at first and it took me awhile before I became a believer.  I signed up to be a distributor in 2006 when I went to my first convention in Salt Lake City and have been actively involved with the oils by buying and using their products, hosting aromatherapy parties with foot soaks at friends' houses, and teaching aromatherapy sessions at Girl Scout Leaderee weekends with my friend Wendy.  Today, I use at least one oil a day whether I use the Thieves Household Cleaner, drink Ningxia Red, or use an essential oil.

    Favorite Oils

What are my top favorite oils from Young Living Essential Oils (YLEO) and why?

I like to use lavender when I am having troubles sleeping. I put a drop on my hands and cup them over my nose. I also put 4-6 drops on my feet. I also use lavender for burns and cuts.

I like to use peppermint when I have an upset stomach. I just put 2 drops in a glass of water and I feel better within 10 minutes. Peppermint also helps with minor headaches. I rub some oil on my temples, forehead, back of my neck and then breathe it in from my hands. It's also a great breath freshener and it relieves sore muscles.
